Job Summary:
Our Finance organization is currently looking for Data Science interns to join us in Raleigh. You will work closely with a senior mentor to gain technical knowledge and experience in your field, and cooperate with a broader international team both locally and globally.
During this internship, you will help apply data management and analysis techniques to quantify the health and sustainability of open source software communities. You will have regular contact with AL/ML engineers and other data scientists gaining important insights into how Red Hat fosters its open source communities to grow its business. And you'll collaborate with open source community builders to provide timely reports of upstream activities to Red Hat stakeholders.
The focus for Red Hat's Intern Program is a dual partnership between the Emerging Talent Team, and our intern managers. We can offer you professional development, social engagement and networking, performance and development, and meaningful work throughout your time at Red Hat.
Job Responsibilities:Create a system/tool set where an experimental-model analysis can be run on changes made within an open source community, upon needDevelop machine learning, data mining, and statistical techniques and algorithms to create new, scalable solutions to address community problems by analysis of large amounts of dataCollaborate with community leaders to apply results to actionable itemsTranslate key findings into visualized presentationsNetwork with other talented interns in an inclusive and diverse workplace where you can be yourself and thriveRequired Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishBackground in Computer Science and some familiarity with data science conceptsProficiency in Python and GitAbility to manage tasks, meet deadlines and analyze data to foster data-driven decisionsAbility to effectively establish and maintain communication with both internal and external stakeholdersStrong organizational and logistical skillsPassion, curiosity, and desire to create new things and examine how things work internallyWillingness to learn and proactively work as a part of a wider team
